Jodie Foster stalker is arrested

A man who sent threatening letters to Oscar-winning actress Jodie Foster has been arrested.
The 42-year-old man, named as Michael Smegal, was arrested yesterday on charges of mailing a bomb threat to a Los Angeles airport.
According to Reuters, Smegal was charged in a US District Court in Massachusetts with mailing a threatening letter to Van Nuys Airport in early December.
The letter was one of more than 100 nearly identical letters with references to Foster mailed to celebrities, business executives, airports and other locations around Los Angeles from September 2007 to January 2008, an affidavit said.
Foster began to receive threatening letters in 2004. In 2005 Smegal admitted to police he had sent the letters and promised to stop.
If convicted Smegal faces up to 10 years in prison followed by three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.

Helena Bonham Carter Looks Like Sheet

Helen BonhamEven in her down time, unwed A-list bag lady Helena Bonham Carter dresses like she's in one of her boyfriend Tim Burton's films. Corpse Bride!

With her static cling pullover, belted duvet cover and atrociously sensible, orthopedic lace-ups, HBC really is Bellatrix Lestrange.

Ticket holders for cancelled Redfest offered alternative festival

Ticket holders for the cancelled Redfest have been given the chance to exchange their tickets for a pass to a similar festival.

Standon Calling takes place on August 1-3 in the grounds of a manor house in Hertfordshire, and Redfest punters can either exchange their tickets for a two-day pass to it, or upgrade their ticket through G Tickets for a full weekend pass.

Alex Trenchard from Standon Calling said: "We know from our own experience how tough it is to get a festival going so we really felt for Redfest when they had to cancel in their first year. We're really looking forward to welcoming new friends into the heart of Standon."

Matt Nichols from Redfest welcomed the offer, saying: "With Standon Calling, people will have the chance to see some of the same bands in a similarly intimate festival setting. We also really like their whole ethos and it's a great opportunity for Redfest ticket holders to enjoy the same type of independent event they were really looking forward to."

Bands playing at Standon Calling include Super Furry Animals, Mystery Jets, The Maccabees, Glasvegas, Late Of The Pier and Florence & The Machine.

Hall, Statler Brothers join country Hall of Fame

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Tom T. Hall and the Statler Brothers were formally inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame with a musical tribute.

Spokeswoman Tina Wright says the two-hour ceremony was held Sunday at the hall.

This year's two other inductees - Emmylou Harris and Ernest (Pop) Stoneman - were formally inducted in April.

Bobby Bare, Heather Berry & Tony Mabe and Michelle Nixon saluted Hall, while Reba McEntire, Daily & Vincent and Grandstaff honored the Statler Brothers.

Vince Gill, Amy Grant and the Jordanaires performed the traditional opening hymn.

Television and radio personality Ralph Emery presented Hall with his medal. Brenda Lee did the same for the Statler Brothers.

Both Hall and the Statlers performed during the ceremony.
